Rei Note is a local-first Windows desktop application for notes, clipboard history, doodles, screen captures, tasks, and focus timers. Your content lives on your own device. We designed Rei Note so that, by default, your data never leaves your computer.
1. The short version
- Your notes, clipboard items, doodles, screenshots, tasks, and settings are stored locally on your device.
- We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share that content. There are no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the app.
- Optional integrations (Azure DevOps, Google Calendar) only send data to those services when you set them up, and only to the accounts you connect.
- Uninstalling the app removes its local data from your device.
2. Data stored on your device
Everything you create or capture in Rei Note — clipboard history, notes, doodles, screenshots, tasks, timers, and preferences — is saved in your local Windows user profile (under your %APPDATA%\Rei Note application folder). This data stays on your machine. We have no servers that receive or store it, and we cannot access it.
3. Optional integrations you control
Rei Note offers optional connections that you can enable and disable at any time. When enabled, data is exchanged only with the third-party service you chose, governed by that service's own privacy policy:
- Azure DevOps — if you add your organization, project, and a Personal Access Token, Rei Note reads and updates work items in your account. Your token is stored encrypted on your device using the Windows Data Protection API (DPAPI) and is never sent anywhere except to Azure DevOps.
- Google Calendar— if you connect your Google account, Rei Note can create calendar events from your tasks. The authorization token is stored encrypted on your device (DPAPI) and is used only to talk to Google's Calendar API. You can revoke access at any time from your Google Account settings or by disconnecting in the app.
If you do not configure these integrations, no data is sent to Azure or Google.
4. The website and launch list
This website (reinote.app) is a static informational page. If you submit your email address to the launch list, we use it solely to send occasional updates about Rei Note's release. We do not sell or share it, and you can ask us to remove it at any time. Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server request logs (such as IP address and timestamp) for security and reliability; we do not use them to identify you.
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data.
- We do not show ads or include advertising trackers.
- We do not run third-party analytics or telemetry inside the app.
- We do not upload your clipboard, notes, or captures to our servers.
6. Data retention and deletion
Because your data is stored locally, youcontrol its lifetime. You can delete individual items in the app, clear your history, or remove the application's data folder. Uninstalling Rei Note removes its local data from your device. For any email you shared with the launch list, contact us to have it deleted.
7. Security
Sensitive credentials (such as your Azure Personal Access Token and Google authorization token) are stored encrypted at rest using the Windows Data Protection API, which ties decryption to your Windows user account. No security measure is perfect, but we aim to keep your credentials protected and on your device.
8. Children's privacy
Rei Note is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected on this page.
