Terms of Service

Last updated: June 11, 2026

These terms govern your use of Rei Note — the free, local-first Windows desktop application for notes, clipboard history, doodles, screen captures, tasks, and focus timers — and of this website (reinote.app). By installing or using the app, or by using the website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Rei Note.

1. What Rei Note is

Rei Note is a desktop productivity tool that runs on your own Windows device and stores your content locally. The website is an informational page about the app. Rei Note is currently provided free of charge. Our Privacy Policy explains how data is handled and is part of these terms.

2. Your license to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Rei Note on devices you own or control, for personal use or internal business use. You may not:

  • sell, rent, lease, or redistribute the app;
  • modify, decompile, or reverse engineer the app, except where applicable law permits it despite this restriction;
  • remove or alter any proprietary notices, branding, or license information;
  • use the app to build a competing product by copying its design or code.

3. Your content

Everything you create or capture in Rei Note — notes, clipboard items, doodles, screenshots, tasks, and settings — is yours. We claim no ownership of it. Because your content is stored locally on your device and we have no copy of it, you are responsible for backing it up. Deleting the app's data folder or uninstalling the app removes your local data.

4. Optional third-party integrations

Rei Note can optionally connect to third-party services. These connections are off by default, and you choose whether to enable them:

  • Google Calendar— if you connect your Google account, Rei Note creates calendar events from your tasks on your behalf. Your use of Google services is also governed by Google's own terms and privacy policy. Rei Note's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. You can disconnect at any time in the app or revoke access from your Google Account.
  • Azure DevOps— if you configure your organization, project, and a Personal Access Token, Rei Note reads and updates work items in your account on your behalf. You are responsible for keeping your token valid and appropriately scoped, and your use of Azure DevOps is governed by Microsoft's terms.

Third-party services are not under our control. We are not responsible for their availability, changes to their APIs, or actions they take on your account, and an integration may stop working if the third party changes or discontinues its service.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use Rei Note only for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • use the app or website to store, create, or distribute unlawful content or malware;
  • use the integrations to access accounts or data you are not authorized to access;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the website or with the third-party services the app connects to.

6. Updates and changes to the app

We may release updates, add or remove features, or discontinue the app at any time. Because Rei Note is local-first, a discontinued app keeps working on your device to the extent it does not depend on third-party services, but we are not obligated to provide updates, support, or maintenance.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

Rei Note and this website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will preserve your data — please keep backups of anything important.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including lost data, lost profits, or business interruption — arising from your use of (or inability to use) Rei Note or this website. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the app or website is limited to the amount you paid for Rei Note (currently zero, as the app is free).

9. Termination

You may stop using Rei Note at any time by uninstalling it. We may terminate or suspend your license if you materially violate these terms. Sections 3, 7, 8, and 10 survive termination.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer of Rei Note resides, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Nothing in these terms limits any mandatory consumer rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. If you continue using Rei Note after changes take effect, that constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
